Vikings season 5 episode 6 preview: Can Lagertha bounce back?

Leading into Vikings season 5 episode 6 on History Wednesday night, Lagerhta isn’t exactly in the greatest possible spot. She’s reeling from recent traitorous moves and trying to assemble what sort of power she now has. Bjorn, meanwhile, has been away for some time but may be one of the best hopes she has left — despite everything that’s happened between them already. Given that Ivar and Heahmund now seem to be working together, that’s a pretty formidable pairing between two extremely-charismatic, powerful individuals. That’s not something that anyone would want a part in. As a result of that we could see Lagertha try to make moves faster than ever before, whereas Ivar and Heahmund will continue plotting in some of the best ways that they know how.

Vikings season 5 episode 6 brings us past the midway point in the first half of the season — basically, this is the point in which momentum really starts to build towards the midseason finale. The brothers are at odds, battle lines are being drawn, and there are questions abounding regarding a possible x-factor. Who has the ability to turn the tide and change the course of history? Whoever manages to find that is, in the end, going to be the one who is probably going to seize the most power.

Lagertha is betrayed and Bjorn must find a way to support the distraught queen. Floki and his settlers arrive in a new land but it is far from what they expected.

The extended promo below offers up a little more visual insight into some of these stories, but we’d argue that it is Lagertha who steals most of the show here. She’s one of the most compelling characters on the entire series, but unfortunately, she’s also probably one of the ones most on borrowed time. There’s a significant reason to be concerned for her future, and we hardly think that this concern is going to subside within a single episode.
