Suits spin-off decision coming soon, per show creator
In a new post on Twitter during a brief Q&A session with fans, Aaron Korsh noted that he is hoping to get some sort of word soon on the future of the spin-off show. The pilot for it serves as the Suits season 7 finale, and this will be reviewed by the higher-ups at USA before a decision is made. For the time being we’re optimistic for one simple reason: It’s Suits. This is one of the network’s marquee shows and Torres is more than capable of leading an ensemble. The big question remains whether or not the network ultimately was pleased after seeing the end product. It’s pretty impossible sometimes to predict what a network is going to do so it’s better off not thinking too much about it.
The one thing that does feel pretty darn clear at the moment is that it feels like the right time to do a show themed around politics — especially one in a city like Chicago. It’s a familiar enough landscape that you can touch on relatable topics, but it’s also not something like Washington politics, which have been shoved down everyone’s throats at this point to the extent that nobody really wants to deal with them anymore.
If the Suits spin-off gets the green light, it would be great to see it on the air at some point in 2018. At this point, it’s best to exercise patience.
For those wondering about how Korsh wrote Meghan Markle and her character of Rachel Zane off of Suits, we’ve got an additional tease from him below. Note that reports also have Patrick J. Adams departing, but USA isn’t confirming that. They probably don’t have to given, last we checked, Adams is not joining a Royal Family somewhere. They probably do want there to be some sort of surprise at the end of the season.
As we wrote yesterday (check out the story over here) all signs point towards Suits season 7 returning in March after the Olympics. If that changes we’ll be sure to let you know.
