Who is Marsh McCall? Fuller House dedicates episode to writer-producer
McCall tragically lost his life earlier this year at the age of 52, and he is one of the most prolific writer-producers in comedy of the past several decades. He was a writer back on the original Late Night with Conan O’Brien, which just so happens to be where he got his start. Beyond that, McCall was a part of Fuller House, Last Man Standing, Jennifer Falls, Just Shoot Me!, and a number of other comedy series over the past several years. He was working on Fuller House at the time of his death alongside creator Jeff Franklin and the remainder of his team.
In a statement talking about McCall to The Hollywood Reporter, Franklin had the following to say in remembrance:
“He was our brightest shining star, always smiling and always there with the perfect joke … Beyond his immense talent, he was the happiest comedy writer we’ve seen, and his love of life was contagious. We will miss him dearly, and our hearts go out to his beautiful family and a universe of friends who adored him.”
McCall did leave a lot of work behind, and we hope that those who were close to him will be able to tribute him through his contributions in entertainment and also the memory of him as a person. Honoring him with a title card was the perfect way to immortalize McCall on the small screen; while many of the show’s viewers may not have heard of him, it’s possible that they will take a moment after seeing the premiere to look him up and see the wide range of shows that he worked on. There’s a good chance that you’ve watched at least a couple of them over the years.
