Homeland season 7 trailer, premiere date official at Showtime
In the video below, you can see the latest chapter of the story for one Carrie Mathison — or, to use the 24 analogy, the next worst day of her life. Okay, so many season 7 is set over longer than just a day, but it feels like every season of Homeland in indicative of the latest terrible chapter for Claire Danes’ character. You would think that over time, someone would start to figure out that Carrie is not someone who can be messed with. Even if she suffers some personal losses, she often finds a way to get the job done and carry through as the champion in the end.
Over season 7, we absolutely imagine as though Carrie is going to be tested in ways that she never has before. The season seems to be picking up not too far down the road from the end of season 6. Keane is still President, and we’re early enough in her time in office that she is naming a new National Security Adviser. Let’s just say that there is going to be plenty of controversy around who she chose given that it is none other than Saul. This is a difficult situation for Carrie to process since Saul is such a close ally of hers and she’s now finding him working for someone who already phased her out.
To us, any occasion in which Carrie and Saul are not working together perfectly is somewhat heartbreaking, mostly because of the fact that they’ve shown, time and time again, a real knack for getting things done. Saul’s also been a father figure for her and it’s a deep betrayal.
Expect Saul’s new position to be just the tip of the crazy iceberg on Homeland season 7, which is going to premiere in full on Showtime when we get around to Sunday, February 11 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time. The release date is almost earlier than we expected given the lack of news we’ve had for some time — with that, we’re now excited for what’s next.
