Homeland season 7: Costa Ronin of The Americans cast in important role

Homeland season 7

Costa Ronin is coming from one political drama involving Russian controversies to another — The Americans actor is heading to Homeland.

So, who is he playing? According to a new report coming in right now courtesy of Deadline, there’s a lot that is still a mystery there. What we do know is that it makes sense for Homeland to have a Russian presence to it (even if Ronin, who was born in the USSR, is not playing a Russian character) given that this is a show that often is tied to current events. Russia is all over the place right now in terms of headlines thanks to the Robert Mueller investigation — while Homeland does not have a Donald Trump per se, they do have President Keane (Elizabeth Marvel), a woman shrouded in some of her own secrets with a number of crazy / scandalous things surrounding her at just about every direction. The sixth season ended with Carrie finding herself getting shut out of her world and the seventh season could be about her trying to infiltrate it again — while getting some answers as to what is going on in the process.

The sad thing is that, at present, the folks over at Showtime remain very secretive when it comes to Homeland and the plans for the show’s future. There is no firm season 7 premiere date yet, nor is there a new trailer. We’d love to see either one of the two at some point in the weeks ahead, especially since we’re gearing up to have yet another season premiering more than a year later than the previous one. Maybe this extra time is needed for the show to better accommodate production moves (Homeland is heading down to Virginia after spending some time in New York City for season 6), or maybe it’s just needed in order to get the story just right. Showtime has a lot banking on this series’ success and they may want to make it as strong as possible.
