Ink Master: Angels season 2 premiere date hopes, expectations

Ink Master: Angels

Following tonight’s finale on Spike, what could the Ink Master: Angels season 2 premiere date be? CarterMatt is here to offer up some first speculation on the subject!

The thing that we should note here first and foremost is that there is in fact going to be a second season of the show. That was confirmed not too long ago, along with the news that the second season is going to premiere at some point in 2018. Three of the original four artists in Ryan Ashley Malarkey, Nikki Simpson, and Kelly Doty are all going to be returning as Angels/judges on the new season. Gia Rose departed midway through the first season — while she is back for tonight’s finale, this episode is airing out of order and was filmed early on, so it’s not an indication of her coming back for season 2.

At the moment, there is no firm Ink Master: Angels season 2 premiere date beyond next year, but it doesn’t take too much effort to figure out when this could be airing. For starters, you’re not going to see the show in the winter or early spring. Ink Master season 10 is airing on the Paramount Network (the new name for Spike) in the new year, and we have a feeling that the show isn’t going to be returning at any point during that run. There’s no reason for it to. Our feeling is that season 2 will return in the summer, and serve to bridge the gap between season 10 and an eventual season 11 of the franchise. In the past when Ink Master airs a season in the winter there’s another one in the late summer/early fall, and we feel like that will be the case again here.

Will Ink Master: Angels season 2 have a similar premise to season 1, where the winner of each episode gets a chance to compete for an Ink Master spot? That feels like a great way to establish a nice link to the flagship show. Yet, that’s far from confirmed at present. If the series doesn’t decide to stick with this format, they could always shift it so that there’s a cash prize for past Ink Master alum to return to compete. Personally, though, we like the story development that comes with the current premise, that way with season 10 of Ink Master we already feel invested in some potential contestants.
