Should an Outlander season 4 teaser come after season 3 finale?
We should note that by “teaser,” it doesn’t necessarily have to mean video footage. Maybe we could get a line or two of dialogue presented at the end of the credits as an audio teaser or a couple new images released by Starz. Just something to get all of us excited to see what Outlander season 4 has to offer when it premieres! A little tease often goes a long way.
At the moment, Starz is in somewhat of a unique position given that season 3 is ending at the same time that season 4 is filming, and there is around two months’ worth of production already done. This situation is remotely similar to a BBC series in Poldark, which wrapped up season 2 in the past by showing some footage as to what would be coming in season 3. Its production schedule is reasonably similar to what Outlander is now and that enables them to tease the upcoming season far in advance. Few shows have a chance to do that.
We do think it’s possible that an Outlander season 4 teaser could come our way in the form of a photo or two this month. Beyond that, though, we’re not counting on anything more. Remember that there are still likely a good nine or so months, (at least) before season 4 premieres! Starz has to save some good stuff for a little closer to the premiere and they don’t want to churn out a million or so teasers. Our feeling is that the first season 4 teaser will come in the spring while the trailer premieres in the summer — it wouldn’t be a shock if Outlander forged a release schedule for season 4 that is similar to what they did for season 3. Having the same production schedule year in and year out is a rather-useful way in which to get all of your metaphorical ducks in a row.
One way or another, we imagine that there will be some inklings coming in the weeks ahead regarding the fourth season — beyond of course suggestions that we should all go and read Drums of Autumn. There may be some interviews released with some production insights or story suggestions as to what’s ahead.
