NCIS: Los Angeles season 9 spoilers: Nell’s sister returning
According to a report from Entertainment Weekly, Ashley Spillers is poised to pop back on the CBS show for at least one more episode airing in March as the character of Homeland Security Special Sydney Jones. When we last saw her on the show she and Nell had an interesting back and forth, one that was symbolic of some of the power dynamics that have been there for most of the season.
Here is what executive producer R. Scott Gemmill had to say about the choice to bring the character back:
“Having talented, fearless, and funny actors is one of the greatest parts of the job and Renee and Ashley play off each other so well that you want their characters to open their own detective agency … We had so much fun in the 200th episode that we couldn’t wait to team them up again.”
We’re very excited to see Sydney back on the show again because it adds to the overall tapestry of the Nell character and gives her something more to do beyond just work with Eric at the office while occasionally going out into the field. This far into a show’s run, it’s imperative that the writers come up with some interesting new things to do with their character and Nell is someone we’ve always wanted the show to dive further in to. We hope that NCIS: Los Angeles uses this as even more of a jumping-off point moving forward with some of their other characters. There’s still more than half of this season to go and we certainly don’t get the feeling that there are any plans for this to be the last season. There’s still going to be a lot of time in order to figure out where the stories could go with many of these characters and while the cases of the week are always fun, we watch for the personal stories of the team.
There are two more episodes of NCIS: Los Angeles coming up this calendar year — therefore, there’s a lot to look forward to well before you get around to seeing Nell’s sister back in action.
