Critics’ Choice Awards 2018 snubs. Will & Grace, Sam Heughan, Kit Harington, more
What are some of the biggest Critics’ Choice Awards 2018 snubs? The nominations were announced on Wednesday, but as is the case for most awards show there are a number of shows and actors who were unfortunately left behind.
Below, CarterMatt wants to talk about what we consider to be, (in no particular order) the six biggest snubs of the entire awards show.
1. Veep – It feels like the critics voting this year just felt like Veep had won so many awards over the years that they didn’t want to give them anymore. As a result of that, they snubbed it across the board in all categories. It’s a shame too, since getting an inspirational speech from Julia Louis-Dreyfus could have made for a beautiful moment on the show. Also, this show is so incredibly funny!
2. Outlander / Sam Heughan – It was great to see Caitriona Balfe get a nomination for her work as Claire Fraser, but what about Heughan’s own masterful performance? What about the show itself? This is a reflection of the Golden Globe nominations from earlier this year. We just don’t understand why Heughan’s work keeps going unnoticed.
3. The Leftovers / Justin Theroux – Damon Lindelof’s brilliant HBO series started off as the ignored underdog; now with it ending it’s still being ignored in the same way. It’s great that Carrie Coon got some love for Fargo, but what about for the almost-perfect finale here? What gives?
4. Will & Grace – Despite all of the buzz around the arrival of this show and discussions about it getting a ton of awards-show love, how did it get only one nomination for Sean Hayes? How did Modern Family get a nod over it?
5. Mariska Hargitay – We know that Hargitay is a long shot given that Law & Order: SVU has been on the air for ages at this point, but her work in “Something Happened” was one of the strongest single-episode performances we’ve ever seen. We feel like we should just prepare to utter this same line time and time again coming up since she’s probably going to be snubbed at a number of other awards shows, as well. Completely mind boggling to us.
6. Kit Harington – Finally, we turn to the Game of Thrones star not getting some love for one of his best seasons to date. We understand the nominations for Peter Dinklage and Emilia Clarke, but why not Kit to go along with them? He killed it this season!
What do you think were the biggest Critics’ Choice Awards snubs this year? Be sure to share below!

Very surprised that Outlander and Sam Heughan did not get a nod along with Kit Harrington. Great to see Catriona Balfe recognized (so they do know about Outlander).

Completely agree with both Outlander / Sam Heughan, and The Leftovers / Justin Theroux.
Seems that both of these shows keep getting the female leads recognised, but not the male! As Caitriona Balfe tweeted back to Sam Heughan, it IS a team effort.
And I was really hoping for The Leftovers too, since it’s now over with.

Get sick of GOT walking away with awards year after year…I don’t watch the show, but I doubt it is that good. Downton Abbey the same. That I did watch and loved it, but didn’t think it was better than Outlander. I hate award shows and the endless thanking everyone but the dog; I won’t watch either. This was such a strong season for Sam; I doubt he will be showcased that strongly as we go forward if it follows the books.

Well…there is a lot of meaty Jamie’s stuff once he basically becomes the leader of Scots on the Ridge.
Sam and Caitriona will have to share a screentime with Sophie and Rik a lot though.

Sam Heughan is a marvelous actor, not just a gorgeous face. It’s so sad that he is overlooked. Outlander is such a great show with so many elements, actors, history, costumes and scenery. Caitriona Balfe is very deserving, and I’m thrilled she was recognized. As I see it Cait and Sam are a team.

Blatant omission of a wonderful star, Sam Heughan. What a shame the people on the Critics Choice voting board are too stupid to realize that and give Sam a nod. Makes you wonder about these “award” shows. I vote their for crap!

These award shows are biased. It’s why I never watch them. If they can overlook a wonderful actor like Sam Heughan you know there’s something odd.

Sam Heughan was Brilliant and Amazing in all 3 seasons. He had me in the floor crying in Lost Things I think it was episode 4 and the very first episode was Magnificent. I think this Award shows are Fixed. I am very Happy for Caitriona. She should have won last year. I just don’t get why they snubbed Sam Heughan or Kit Harrington!! I won’t be watching.

Sam Heughan gave incredible performances throughout Season 3. It doesn’t make any sense. Perhaps Starz pushed American Gods and Ian McShane instead of Outlander and Sam. If so it’s really a shame.

Caitriona Balfe has said many times that you are only as good as your screen partner. Happy Caitriona received a nomination, but I too, wonder why Sam Heughan did not.
