The Crown season 2 video: Go behind the scenes with Matt Smith, Claire Foy
In a new video below (courtesy of NBC’s The Today Show,) you can see Matt Smith, Claire Foy, Vanessa Kirby, and more introduce you to what life behind the scenes is like on the hit series. This is one of the biggest, most expensive shows on TV, and there is a reason for that: It’s trying to recapture royalty, and this is a world that is as big and wealthy as they come. No expense is spared in replicating that, though you can see in this video that life behind the scenes isn’t quite as glamorous as what it was like for Elizabeth and Philip during this era.
For those of you who are interested in getting extensive story details as to what is coming up on the new season, this video may not be for you; yet, there are a few reminders thrown in here that one of the big themes of the season is marriage. Elizabeth and Philip are going to do their best in order to make things work, but it’s very clear that there are some significant bumps in the road that they have to overcome. It’s difficult having as much responsibility as what these two have, and they are going to face some challenges trying to balance all of that out.
Beyond that, there are of course some other family issues plus some real-world challenges that the Monarchy had to face throughout this period of time in the Queen’s reign.
Aside from getting a chance to learn more about these characters’ relationships, one of the other clear highlights from this video is seeing the natural way in which Foy and Smith work off of each other. It’s seeing great chemistry like this that make it all the sadder that these characters are going to be recast / aged up for the upcoming third season of The Crown.
