The Flash season 4 casting news: Kendrick Sampson playing Brainstorm

Kendrick Sampson

Kendrick Sampson is coming aboard The Flash season 4, and let’s just say that his role comes with some interesting abilities.

According to a new report coming in via Deadline, you’re going to have a chance to see the How to Get Away with Murder actor pop up in a recurring role as Dominic Lanse, a man who was apparently aboard the bus that carried many of the characters plotted out by The Thinker. He possesses the ability to read other people’s thoughts, which in turn leads to him having the alter ego of Brainstorm. (He also works as a TSA agent, which could effectively eliminate all of the annoying security checks if you had him working at an airport.)

In the DC Comics world Brainstorm is a villain with a wide array of power and influence; however, we’ve come to learn that the show has no problem taking liberties with the source material. We certainly know that there are many people not altogether thrilled with how Ralph Dibny is rough around the edges (and that’s just putting it nicely).

The first appearance of Lanse on the show is going to be on the upcoming midseason finale airing Tuesday, which will also feature both The Thinker and the return of Katee Sackhoff as Amunet Black. This is, effectively, going to be a big hour for both Barry Allen and Caitlin Snow / Killer Frost — based on some of the details that are out there (via The CW), you’re going to see Iris forced into making a major decision as to who she wants to help save. We wouldn’t be shocked if there’s a cliffhanger…

Season 4 on The Flash will return following the midseason finale in the new year, and you’re going to see Lanse turn up at some point during that. Meanwhile, be prepared to also get more of Amunet in the process — Sackhoff’s role is far from done with the midseason finale. We’re going to have a fun story coming up on CarterMatt next week in which Katee explains to us the process of developing the accent that she is using for the Amunet character.
