The Flash season 3 midseason finale preview: The Thinker’s next move

Flash season 3 midseason finale

Following the Crisis on Earth-X crossover event this week, The Flash season 3 midseason finale is going to be coming to The CW in one week’s time. What we’re going to see in this episode is all sorts of delightful chaos. For one, you’re going to see the return of Katee Sackhoff as Amunet Black — as someone who just watched the final season of Longmire it’s going to be interesting to see her step into this skin again.

Beyond that, we’ve also got a showdown like no other with The Thinker — we learned on his last appearance just how much he is playing the long-game. He’s like an even more intellectual version of Prometheus with him constantly thinking hundreds of steps ahead. He claims that he’s mapped out and prepared for every possible scenario in his efforts to stop The Flash. There’s still something more to be learned in terms of his endgame and some of his long-term plans, but that information may come over time. This is another reminder that Neil Sandilands is absolutely fantastic in this role and is, by far, the most underrated performer on the show.

Take a look at The Flash season 3 midseason finale synopsis that Cartermatt has for you below to get a little more information all about what’s coming:

KATEE SACKHOFF RETURNS AS AMUNET – Amunet (guest star Katie Sackhoff) kidnaps Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) and puts meta-dampener handcuffs on her to keep her from turning into Killer Frost. Amunet tells Caitlin she needs her to perform a tricky medical task and if Caitlin fails, Amunet will kill her. Meanwhile, The Thinker (guest star Neil Sandilands) traps The Flash (Grant Gustin) in a speedster-proof prison. With the clock ticking, The Team doesn’t have the time or resources to track both Caitlin and Barry so Iris (Candice Patton) is forced to choose who to save. Stefan Pleszczynski directed the episode written by Sam Chalsen & Judalina Neira (#409). Original airdate 12/5/2017.

Basically, this is one of the most impossible decisions that Iris has to make — saving the man she loves or one of her best friends. It seems obvious that she would choose to save Barry, and we wonder if that could turn Caitlin in a frosty direction as a result.
