The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 2 premiere date speculation

When could The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 2 premiere on Amazon? That’s a question that many out there may wonder with the first season show starting up.

If you haven’t heard too much about the series, the official logline keeps things about as simple as simple can be: “A 1950s housewife decides to be one of the first female stand-up comics.” It’s got a great cast including Rachel Brosnahan and Tony Shalhoub, and beyond that it also has the great Gilmore Girls one-two bunch of Dan Palladino and Amy Sherman-Palladino behind the scenes. The trailer that CarterMatt has for you below gives you a sense that there is a lot to love about the show, and Amazon is making it clear that you’re going to have even more to look forward to from the moment that the first season ends.

When the streaming provider first picked up the show, they decided to give it two seasons in order to fully test the waters — they also want to bring in viewers in a specific demographic and know that Amy Sherman-Palladino has plenty of fans. This may not have the name recognition of Gilmore Girls but it should be able to draw plenty of viewers regardless. Giving the show two seasons is a way to give viewers security, so they know that if they give this show a try with it’s first season, they are guaranteed at least one more. It’s something similar to what Amazon did recently with their upcoming TV adaptation of The Lord of the Rings. They gave that adaptation a multiple-season order right away, though the precise details there are unclear.

In giving The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel two seasons right out of the gate it’s more than possible that the second season could premiere at some point within the fall of 2018 — if not then, than early 2019 could also be a possibility. While we know that there is a clause in the Palladinos’ contract that allows them to go and work on another season of Gilmore Girls if they so choose, we have a hard time thinking that it will happen until after these two seasons wrap up, so Gilmore Girls shouldn’t significantly impact the future of this show.
