Is Wisdom of the Crowd canceled at CBS? Its future looks dire

Wisdom of the Crowd canceled

Is Wisdom of the Crowd canceled once and for all at CBS? While it’s not official as of yet, signs are not looking good.

CBS has opted to not pick up any additional episodes of the Jeremy Piven series after it struggled in the ratings in its Sunday timeslot. While there were some additional scripts ordered, it does not appear as though those will be going into production. The network will make its official decision when it gets around to May sweeps, but for now it seems as though the show is going to be done.

The biggest thing hurting Wisdom of the Crowd, (at least at the moment) are the allegations of sexual misconduct against Piven dating back to his time on Entourage. While Piven has denied the accusations, the court of public opinion does have a way to punish an actor for some of their reported actions: Not watching the show. CBS was criticized at the time for not doing more with Wisdom of the Crowd, but they likely always knew that this was a possibility. They can quietly move the show off the schedule, cancel it, and then move forward.

While we do think that there were merits to the series creatively, there were also some major problems standing against it from the get-go. One of the biggest issues with the show comes courtesy of its title. After all, the name Wisdom of the Crowd just doesn’t roll off the tongue. It’s not memorable and it also doesn’t tell you what this show is about. Just also add to this the fact that it’s a show strictly in the CBS wheelhouse — a procedural featuring a heavy case-of-the-week component.

What we do hope at the moment is that Wisdom of the Crowd does get some sort of proper ending; for fans of the show who have stuck with it, we do hope that it offers some closure. That way, they’ll feel that their journey was worth it in some shape or form.
