Ink Master: Angels preview: Meet Rachel Helmich, her brother Joe Capone, and Nick Demars

Ink Master: Angels

Tuesday’s new episode of Ink Master: Angels is almost here, and that means you’re going to have an opportunity to see three new artists!

What makes this episode all the more interesting is that these three artists in Pittsburgh include, for the first time this season, a set of siblings! This show up the ante and allow for even more intense competition than ever before — there’s nothing quite like a sibling rivalry.

Here are snapshots of the three artists you’re going to be meeting in the episode. You can see a little more of them in the video below, and the challenge itself leading up to the first advancing artist. (For those wondering where Gia Rose is, we spelled that out for you last week at CarterMatt.)

Rachel Helmich – She lived for many years in Hawaii before heading home to Pittsburgh a couple of years ago. She’s very experienced, has worked at a wide array of shops, and she owns the shop that the artists are competing in during the episode. From the start, she appears as though she’s the frontrunner and we don’t quite know why she wasn’t just cast on Ink Master season 10 outright.

Joe Capone – Apparently, Joe had no idea that Rachel was competing and vice-versa. He’s desperate to prove himself in this competition, especially since his sister has been doing this longer and, to date, she’s received the majority of attention.

Nick Demars – He is the odd guy out of the three artists, but he is definitely a guy with some drive. He came to Pittsburgh on a whim to prove that he was worthy of working at a shop, and he now has a family. He’s very much interested in proving that he is worthy of being in the competition and that his hard work has paid off.

Here’s the bad news for Nick — judging from the way that the Angels seem to be interpreting his tattoo tonight, they aren’t exactly feeling what he’s bringing to the table. He does an experimental piece — a color tattoo created with a black-and-gray sensibility. We actually like it more than the Angels seem to.

The placement for this two-hour tattoo is the kneecap, and in general we don’t think any of the end products are all that bad. All three artists this week have experience and are pretty polished at what they do. Now that we’ve said that, we absolutely do believe that everyone wants to see the sibling rivalry continue to the next round. Nick’s got an uphill battle battle to overtake Joe or Rachel.
