Dutton Ranch season 1 episode 9 spoilers: After that phone call…
After what we saw on this past Dutton Ranch episode, is almost everything about to change on some level? Well, you can make that argument, and a lot of it is tied to what we saw with that phone call we saw Joaquin make near the end of the hour.
Of course, we are well-aware of the fact that the character feels hurt and betrayed by Beulah, and for good reason! This is someone who passed the baton off to Rob-Will rather than him, despite all of the work he had put in to prove himself worthy of the job. Joaquin knows that his father Mariano is an agent of chaos and yet, he still made the choice to pick up the phone! Suffice it to say that this is one of those things that could have some far-reaching consequences moving forward.

Speaking on this further, Joaquin’s portrayer in Juan Pablo Reyes had the following to say to TVLine:
“He knows that making that call will change everyone’s life, just one phone call … He knows that, and it’s really hard to make it. So what comes for Joaquin is a lot of heartbreak, because every single second after that phone call, he knows that it’s his responsibility. It’s like pressing a nuke. You know everything’s going to end, but you don’t see any other way of doing it.”
Given that there is only one episode left this season, doesn’t this feel like the sort of thing that is going to reverberate moving into the next chapter? We at least hope so, if for no reason than that you do not want to rush a part of the mythology that, at least at this point, feels pretty darn rich.
