Blue Bloods season 8 episode 10: Is Abigail Baker leaving?
The title for this episode is “Heavy is the Head,” and based on the synopsis below you’re going to get a sense as to why Baker could be saying goodbye:
“Heavy is the Head” – Erin is conflicted when Jamie and Eddie ask her to help drop old charges against a man, Parker Mack (Spencer House), who just bravely rescued a woman from a local hostage situation. Also, Danny and Baez work a case involving car thieves and discover the leader is Victor Lugo (Nick Cordero), a mobster they’ve dealt with before, and Baker receives a job offer, on BLUE BLOODS, Friday, Dec. 8 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
Could one of Frank’s most-trusted confidantes, someone who has appeared in more than 100 episodes of the show, really depart? Nothing’s altogether secure on that front but this is something that we imagine characters would think about here and there. This is especially true with someone like Baker given that she’s clearly accomplished and could feasibly be doing more than she is working at this office? We do think that Frank would fight to keep her and we absolutely hope that she sticks around — if she does leave, that unfortunately means that she’s the second super-familiar face to leave this season. Just remember (not that we need to remind you) that the premiere episode featured the departure of Amy Carlson, who played the character of Linda Reagan from the very beginning of the series.
The episode title to us suggests that someone actually could be taken down a notch in power. After all, “heavy is the head who wears the crown” is the common expression that is used in this situation.
As for the other stories…
It’s nice to see Jamie and Eddie being prominently featured in the show again! This episode seems to be the latest in a long line of stories for the two characters. Unfortunately, they are once again going to be at odds with someone else in the Reagan family — something that shouldn’t come as too big of a shock given that this happens on the show quite a bit.
