The Blacklist season 5 spoilers: Someone from Reddington’s past will return
For the time being, here is what we know. According to a new report coming in right now via TV Guide, someone is going to re-enter Reddington’s life and that will prove to be quite problematic for many different reasons — starting with the fact that he assumed that this person was gone and didn’t think that he would have to encounter them again. Therefore, them showing up is rather inconvenient to say the least.
As for what they could be doing, it’s probably going to be a situation where they are a thorn in his side — which really shouldn’t come as much of a shock to anyone (he has made a lot of enemies after all). What Red is going to have to figure out is just what he wants to do in order to deal with them — if he can even do anything that is.
Part of what makes the midseason cliffhanger for The Blacklist so interesting is that in jumping forward a good year in time, it’s hard to say where Reddington is with his criminal empire. Is he back closer to what he was before Mr. Kaplan? You can also raise some other questions about the FBI task force. While we don’t always love time jumps, this one is rather valuable given that it doesn’t really gloss over Liz’s mourning (which is important since some shows do), but it does inject some new energy all around her and shake up the entire dynamic of the show. She’s now a widow and single mother, and Reddington may be called on more by her to help than ever before — yet, there is still the mystery of the bones that is floating around, and that’s something that eventually is going to coming up again.
New episodes of The Blacklist kick back off in January on NBC.
