Suits season 7 finale spoilers: Simon Kassianides joins backdoor pilot
According to a report coming in via Deadline, Simon Kassianides has signed up to appear in the episode airing this spring as a “mysterious tough guy,” someone with close ties to the Mayor and also one of the biggest developers in Chicago. Who else thinks that all of this sounds like a recipe for disaster? He’s probably someone who is going to mix things up in the complicated Windy City political landscape.
As of right now Simon Kassianides will join the new show in the event that it is picked up by USA — which seems fairly likely, given that the flagship Suits has been such a solid performer for the network over the past several years. There are many other potential cast members already announced.
The show’s entire premise is focusing more on politics than law, and that makes sense mostly because Torres’ Jessica Pearson is not altogether interested in doing traditional law anymore. As a matter of fact, she can’t even practice it anymore in her former state of residence. Jessica was stripped of this ability recently on the show in New York, not that this really matters all that much since she doesn’t live there anymore. This may just add an additional incentive for her to be able to dive into her new world with some new people. It’s an interesting evolution for this character, someone who found extreme amounts of power and success, but also someone who was okay enough to walk away from that when approached with an opportunity to do something new and exciting in its own right.
If the Suits spin-off series is officially ordered, it could air at some point either in 2018 or early 2019. USA should be able to make a firm decision fairly quickly after it airs.
