Black Lightning premiere date revealed; Legends of Tomorrow season 3 on the move
Today, the network confirmed that the superhero series, (which stars Cress Williams as the title character) is going to be premiering on Tuesday, January 16 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time. It’s pretty clear based on this alone that The CW has a lot of faith in this show, given that they are giving it prime real estate following a new episode of The Flash. That’s their highest-rated show, after all!
While technically Black Lightning is not being considered a part of the Arrow-verse at the moment, we’ll see if that lasts. Remember that there was a time when Supergirl was considered to be its own thing back when it was airing on CBS.
What this means for Legends of Tomorrow is also interesting, given that this show is now going to move to an undetermined time period at some point early next year. If could head over to Mondays at the conclusion of Valor — for now, that seems to be the most likely scenario for the show. The other one is that it gets stuck on Fridays and CarterMatt doesn’t want to see that happen at all. Sure, Legends of Tomorrow may be one of the cheesiest shows on TV and it very rarely ever makes sense, but it’s probably more fun than most other shows on The CW. It doesn’t take itself seriously and it really pushes itself creatively to do weird and wacky things. We know that The CW won’t have five superhero shows forever, but we really hope that this isn’t a sign of that show being in danger because viewers can’t keep track of when it’s on.
For those wondering, our premiere guide has been updated with the new Black Lightning premiere date in mind. Given that he’s not the most well-known superhero we’re curious to see how this show does — we do like the cast and it’s a different take than we’re seeing anywhere else on the network.
