Criminal Minds season 13 episode 8 carries with it the title of “Neon Terror,” and what this seems to mean is an UnSub who wants his name in lights. He wants the attention of the press and will do whatever he can in order to ensure that he has it: Including turning some of his crimes into tall tales. He’s also okay enough to give the media footage of these exploits — that seems like a dodgy proposition, since the more you show off, the more likely it seems that someone is going to figure out what you’re doing.
For a few more specifics now via CBS, just take a look at the Criminal Minds season 13 episode 8 synopsis CarterMatt has for you below:
“Neon Terror” – When an UnSub in Miami sensationalizes his crimes by giving the local media exclusive footage, the BAU is called in to investigate, on CRIMINAL MINDS, Wednesday, Nov. 22 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
Just like any other time in which the BAU takes on a case like this, there are a wide array of different questions that they have to ponder over. Take, for example, why this person feels a need to use the media as an accessory to what they do. Also, there’s the issue of how much the media is willing to go along with this. We know that there are many media outlets desperate to get stories on the air, and in turn there are going to be plenty of people who watch or read as a result. Morbid curiosity sells — it may not be something people like to hear, but that doesn’t make it any less true. (Hopefully, someone is going to have some journalistic integrity here and not just give this killer what they want for the sake of themselves.)
Now, this is the part of the article where we bemoan the fact that CBS isn’t giving more information away about the personal stories than they are. We know that this is a procedural show mostly about the case-of-the-week plot, but there is something more here … right? We have a feeling there will be.
