Chicago Med season 3 spoilers: Meet Sarah Reese’s father
According to The Hollywood Reporter, House of Cards actor Michel Gill is going to recur on the NBC series in the role of Robert Haywood, the estranged father of Dr. Reese (Rachel DiPillo), across several episodes of the season. Like many other characters on the show — including Dr. Halstead’s own father — he will arrive in the story because of him showing up at the hospital. He will be a patient, but soon after that he will cause all sorts of chaos in her life because this is precisely what this man does, especially with her. While we haven’t seen their dynamic just yet, there is a reasonably good chance that Haywood character is a big reason why Dr. Reese is the person that she is — maybe his poor parenting caused her to motivate herself to have a better life.
In general, season 3 is going to be a trying one for the Dr. Reese character, and for a wide array of reasons. The second season of the show ended with Dr. Charles getting shot; given that he is in part a father figure to Reese, this will have an impact on her regardless of whether he lives or dies. Without giving too much away, the premiere episode on Tuesday, November 21 is going to be one that defines the relationship between these two characters in a number of fairly interesting ways.
Is there any good news coming for Dr. Reese? There could be something interesting to explore in the dynamic between her and Dr. Noah Sexton given that the two did share a few interesting moments with each other close to the end of season 2. Beyond that, there are patients in general who come in and continue to test her in a wide array of different ways. She is still trying to find her place within psychiatry and making sure that she knows how to treat the patient in the right way at the right time. She has great instincts for the job and knows how to sympathize with some of their plights. Like any young doctor, though, there is work that still needs to be done and this season should be a journey for her. We’re very much intrigued to see how her father plays into that.
