Supergirl season 3 episode 7 preview: Is Samantha becoming Reign?

Supergirl season 3 episode 7 is airing next week, and all you need to know is the title to know this one’s going to be big: “Wake Up.” At some point before the new year, you knew that Reign would (probably) be born within National City. After all, the photos of Odette Annable in costume are already out there!

Based on the Supergirl season 3 episode 7 synopsis CarterMatt had for you below, it does sound as though we’re getting close to this big moment for Samantha Arias where she transforms:

CHAD LOWE RETURNS TO DIRECT; BETTY BUCKLEY GUEST STARS – When Winn (Jeremy Jordan) and the team discover an alien ship has crash landed deep underwater beneath National City, Kara/Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) is called in to investigate. Meanwhile, Hank (David Harewood) attempts to bond with his father, Myr’nn (guest star Carl Lumbly). Samantha (Odette Annable), eager for some understanding of the changes she has been experiencing, looks to her estranged mother, Patricia Arias (guest star Betty Buckley), for answers. Chad Lowe directed the episode written by Gabriel Llanas and Anna Musky-Goldwyn. (#307). Original airdate 11/20/2017.

Based on some of the casting information that is out there regarding the Patricia character, she knows a little bit more about her daughter’s destiny than she let on. She may have been prepared for this moment to arrive and has been biding her time. The two do not have the best relationship, so seeing how they react one way or another should prove interesting.

Would we be surprised if the costume itself appears in this episode? Probably, since it feels a little more like this is a reveal that will happen once we make it to the other side of the crossover. If Supergirl is well aware of someone attacking National City with the sort of powers that Reign has, it’s hard to imagine that she’d be willing to leave it, even if it meant going to an event that is important to her like the wedding of Barry Allen and Iris West. That is the event meant to be at the center of the upcoming four-part Crisis on Earth-X crossover event.

After watching the promo below, it’s clear that there is another event being hyped up: The return of Mon-El! The problem there is that he’s not the same person he once was. Maybe the title is also a reference to him having to figure out his own future.
