Agents of SHIELD season 5 promo: Clark Gregg in space!
As excellent as much of the fourth season was, (especially the arc near the end of it that focused heavily on the Framework storyline) CarterMatt will be quick to admit that there was a lot of it that ventured into fairly serious territory. It was pretty dark, we lost many characters in the process, and it definitely looked for a little while as though Aida was going to be able to take over most of the world as we knew it. It’s still crazy to think about that character’s evolution — where she was when she was first introduced mostly as an android to where she was at the end of the season – becoming human and developing powers.
For season 5, the show is heading off into outer space, and with the new setting is apparently coming a whole lot of humor. There are some great moments in this preview for Coulson (Clark Gregg), May (Ming-Na Wen), and the majority of the other characters as they do everything that they can in order to adjust to some of their new surroundings. One of the biggest things to remember about some of these characters is that, as skilled as they may be, they’re not exactly used to life outside of Planet Earth. They’ll have to learn to adjust to these new surroundings and figure out why they are out there in the first place.
Oh, and you’re also going to see Coulson and company battle some Kree.
Ratings expectations
Agents of SHIELD season 5 premieres on ABC later this year, and it’s an understatement to say that we’re a little bit worried about the show and its future. One of the biggest obstacles that it’s set to run up against here is that it’s moving to Friday nights, and if you look at the ratings for Once Upon a Time and Inhumans, they make it pretty darn clear that the network isn’t exactly hitting a whole lot of home runs when it comes to shows airing in on this night.
