Scandal season 7: Is Katie Lowes leaving her role of Quinn Perkins?
Well, the answer to that question is actually rather complicated because of where we are in the story, and that is where Shonda Rhimes and the show’s producers want it to be right now. They want you to be guessing, and they want you to be sweating over the fate of this character.
Here are the cold facts for the time being: At the end of Thursday night’s new episode it was clear that the character was taken by someone. Yet, it was not revealed who that is. The promo that we saw for next week’s new episode does make it seem very much as though the character’s fate is in jeopardy since we don’t know whose body is lying under that sheet.
Yet, we don’t quite think the series would kill off Quinn Perkins in a way that is this obvious. After everything that the character has gone through from the start, killing her in this way just feels a little bit too easy.
Now that we have said this, signs do point towards you seeing a little bit less in the near future of Katie Lowes because of her real-life pregnancy. This could be an opportunity for her to go on leave for a while and return a little later this season — Quinn’s been a big part of the show from the early days and we like to think that she is someone the producers would want around for the series finale. (For those curious, Lowes actually welcomed her baby boy last month — the show tends to be many weeks ahead in production of what you are actually seeing on ABC.)
One of the reasons for the early winter finale could be a way to give the show, and Lowes, a bit of a break. No matter what happens for Quinn (and all of the other characters moving forward), we have a feeling that we’re building towards an exciting conclusion!
