Chicago Fire season 6: What’s coming up in the new year?

Chicago Fire new tonight

Is Chicago Fire new tonight on NBC? We wish that we could say that it was, but NFL football is messing that up.

Tonight marks the first of many consecutive nights in which there is no new episode of the show on the network because of their Thursday Night Football deal. As we’ve already reported here at CarterMatt, the show is going to return to NBC on January 4 with new episodes, and there are many exciting things coming up.

Want to know a few of them? Thanks to CarterMatt’s recent visit to the Chicago Fire set, there are several stories to look forward to when the show comes back.

Jon Seda coming over – The actor is going to be appearing in some sort of arc on Chicago Fire, which makes sense given what happened in the fall finale to Ramon. Hopefully, Antonio and Dawson’s father makes it through his current health crisis — we know that there are a lot of things that need to be addressed when it comes to the Antonio – Ramon relationship. There has not really been one over the past year.

More tension between Casey and Dawson – This time around, one of the main sources for this tension seems to be a young woman who we see Dawson become emotionally attached to. While it’s understandable that she cares, Jesse Spencer told us that there is going to be conflict over her trying to take work home with her again after what’s already happened with Louie.

A big Otis storyline – He’s going to continue to work at potentially turning the bar Mac’s into Molly’s North … while also developing a romantic interest in the daughter of the original bar’s owner. This could be one of the sweeter stories we’ve seen on the show for a while, provided that it’s happy and romantic as opposed to one that ends in a depressing way.

The aftermath of Hope – How is Brett going to feel about everything that happened with her friend? She’s someone who tried to send Stella away from Firehouse 51, and we figure that she is going to be doing everything that she can in order to ensure that everyone else is still on her side now. She doesn’t want to be judged because of her friend, which is something that does have a tendency to happen sometimes in life.

A crossover – There is one that is going to be coming up in the new year — there aren’t too many details about it just yet, but it’s going to be carried over (in part) into a big episode of Chicago PD.

We do have more One Chicago interviews to share in the coming days, so stay tuned!
