With that being said, you may not need to be anywhere near as patient with Big Little Lies as we first thought. The Reese Witherspoon – Nicole Kidman limited series does not officially have a second season yet, but according to TVLine filming for it could begin as early as the spring of next year. We’ll be honest — we thought we’d be lucky to see this show film before 2019 just because of all of the cast’s busy schedules and the fact that there is no confirmed story out there.
For the first season, Big Little Lies had a significant advantage: The story that they were telling was based entirely on the Liane Moriarty source material. This time around we’re talking about a little bit of a different situation. There isn’t much of a resource for story now and as a result of this, writer David E. Kelley had to take a different approach with the story this time around.
With this approximate filming date in mind, what does this mean when it comes to when Big Little Lies season 2 could be on the air? Well, you could end up getting the show in early 2019, right around when the first season premiered. In theory, the episodes could be ready earlier, but why the rush? You also know that the show worked really well in one time slot and with that in mind, there really shouldn’t be any immediate rush in order to change it.
Will the entirety of the season 1 cast, (save of course for Alexander Skarsgard for obvious reasons), return for the second season? Will there be new additions? Will there be a new murder? These are just some of the things we’re pondering over … along with whether or not there is any reason we need another season of a show that already had a perfect ending. There are many ways in which this could blow up in everyone’s face.
