Is Designated Survivor new tonight? Season 2 episode 7 scoop
There is one reason and one reason only for the show being on hiatus — the CMA Awards. This annual event on ABC has a tendency to mess things up for many shows on the network, and for this show you can say that tenfold. After all, Designated Survivor aired a new episode last week opposite the World Series of all things — and that certainly was not a boost to its ratings. It’s probably one of the reasons why the Kiefer Sutherland series tied its previous series low: A 0.7 in the 18-49 demographic. It’s pretty clear that this is a series that has a rather significant amount of work to do in the event it wants to be spared from a cancellation at the end of the season (there’ll be more chances to discuss that at a later date). For now, just lament the fact that the show is on a one-week hiatus. It will be back on November 15.

“When a Turkish activist ignites protests in the U.S., Turkey’s president demands his extradition while the first family unknowingly finds themselves in the center of a battle that could threaten Leo’s future.”
Is this the last episode of the year? There’s no indication of that, but odds are that Designated Survivor will be off the air on November 22 and for good reason. This is Thanksgiving Week, and that is typically a time in which some shows try to stay away from airing new episodes. There are more opportunities for new episodes coming up in December. One thing we can say is that if Designated Survivor wants to do a similar split-season format to what they did during the first season, they need to get some more episodes on the air by the end of December. Otherwise, they are back-loading the show far too much.
