Doctor Who season 11: Bradley Walsh talks pulling double-show duty
There is no denying that this is an enormous undertaking for Walsh to continue to do his former show while taking on the Doctor Who as well, but he sounds excited to be taking on this challenge. Speaking in a new interview with The Telegraph, he confirmed that he will continue to do The Chase, but also commented that doing Doctor Who is something that he (and so many other actors) dream about … even if he did have some concerns:
“I was petrified, but even though I’d watch most of it from behind the sofa through my fingers, I became a fan…
“Am I thrilled to be part of this whole groundbreaking new dawn for The Doctor? Oh yes!”
For Walsh this may be a difficult juggling act, but one of the things that you do have to remember here is that Doctor Who may not film every day fro his character (he’s not the main star) so he can find the time to squeeze in some other gigs along the way. It may still be a more challenging schedule than we’ve seen from many other people in the past, but he can find a way to (hopefully) pull this off.
Alas, you do still have some time wait before you get a chance to see the show back in action. Doctor Who season 11 is not slated to premiere until the fall of next year, and our hope is that as production gets underway we do get a few teases here and there from showrunner Chris Chibnall and the cast as to what’s going on. We know that there are a wide range of emotions from fans from excitement to anxiety about the series (and all the changes), but we very much do believe that all is going to be fine here. This is not a show that makes rash decisions and based on everything we’ve seen, Jodie Whittaker is going to be a fantastic Doctor.
