This Is Us season 2 spoilers: Lost alum to play role in William story

This Is Us season 2

This Is Us season 2 on Tuesday night will touch on a number of key stories, and many of them will be related to legal issues. For Jack and Rebecca, they will have the adoption process underway with Randall. Meanwhile, for William he will need to confront some news from his past.

According to a report from Entertainment Weekly, Sam Anderson (perhaps best known for playing the character of Bernard on ABC’s Lost) is going to be appearing on the upcoming  episode of the show as a judge presiding over a case in which a younger version of William (played by Jermel Nakia) is involved. This is going to be an episode that offers up some more insight into William’s past concurrently with Jack and Rebecca working to ensure that his son Randall has the best life possible.

You’ve known for most of this season that William would still have some sort of role in the story, even if the modern version of the character played by Ron Cephas Jonas died during the episode “Memphis” last season. (It’s almost impossible to even think of that episode without getting a little teary-eyed.) Randall not knowing him as a child greatly formed his upbringing, even if he did have two remarkable parents in Jack and Rebecca who did everything in their power to ensure that he had the greatest life possible. Randall is now trying to pay that forward by being a foster parent to someone greatly in need — it is still a work in progress and he will need to learn to exercise great patience … even if we know from experience that such things do not necessarily come easy for him. There are personality clashes that are there between him and his foster daughter, which is why at times Kevin has been able to speak to her in a way that gets through to her better.
