This Is Us season 2 episode 7 preview: Kate, Toby look ahead
What does this mean? We cannot detect any direct references within present-day pop culture; instead, this may be the show tying that into something within the story, such as with Randall given what he looks to be dealing with right now with the complexities of the foster system. We’ve seen so many times (on other shows) just how challenging this can be — the rules are wonky, the pressure is high, and those working within the program tend to only get a small, isolated sense of what is going on. They often don’t see the full picture mostly because it is relatively impossible for them to do so with the limitations put upon them.

11/07/2017 (09:00PM – 10:01PM) (Tuesday) : Randall adjusts to the foster system. Kate and Toby take the next step in their relationship. Kevin visits Sophie in New York. Jack and Rebecca finalize Randall’s adoption.
When it comes to some of the other storylines in this episode beyond what’s happening with Randall in the present, Kate and Toby probably do feel a lot of pressure right now given that they are expecting a baby. With that of course comes a lot of expectations and it could cause them to treat every single moment as though it’s far more important than any other one they’ve had before. Could they even get married? It seems possible based on the promo.
Meanwhile, for Kevin and Sophie the name of the game may still be about healing and trying to repair what is on the verge of falling apart. All you need to do here is remember what happened with Kevin at her gala, where he let his addiction get in the way of her big night — she went from being the star of the night to being embarrassed.
We’re nearing the halfway point of season 2, strange as it may be to say. As a result of that you do have to anticipate some more big reveals for the Big Three.
