NCIS: Los Angeles season 9 episode 6 video: Deeks in a difficult position
Much of that, unfortunately, stems from some of his past and what happened to his former partner. In the sneak peek CarterMatt has for you below, the entire table is set for what is going to be the foundation for the rest of the case. One of Deeks’ former partners in Lieutenant Bates has gone rogue, and judging from what Detective Whiting tells him, he could be one of the people who is able to bring him back. Bates trust him and will listen to what he has to say more than most other people. It’s too bad then that this is not a mission that Eric Christian Olsen’s character is all that interested in taking on. Deeks makes that clear, and as a result of that there is some very immediate tension that comes to light.
Thanks to Whiting’s response, Marty finds himself in a position where he may not have any other choice but to go along with the case of the missing Bates. He is facing off against someone who knows many of his skeletons that are in his closet, and one wrong move here could all but guarantee that much of this life and his job are taken away from him. You get a really good sense of the stakes at the very end when Deeks’ entire mood changes completely the moment that some of his past actions shooting a former partner (in Francis Boyle) are brought up like blackmail.
This is going to be a tough episode for Deeks, it will be a chance to test the character in new and exciting ways. In the end we’re just hoping that this will be an opportunity to see him be a hero and flex some of his muscles in a different way than we’re used to seeing. Let’s just hope that along the way no more trouble befalls him and that Kensi will be able to help in some capacity.

I have been waiting for this story arc. My BIG concern is if Deeks does not include Kensi. “No more secrets”. I have not been happy with Season 9 so far. Barely any Densi. I hate Moseley and the first episode with Bates acting like a jerk that was out of character was disheartening. I want my show back with quality stories and good character arcs not the crap we have been watching this season. Also based on the promo for the episode, you would never know this was the Deeks episode except for our prior knowledge and sneak peeks. the good news is that this was shot before Nia Long joined cast.
