Poldark season 4 teaser: Is Verity returning?

Is Verity returning to Poldark season 4? CarterMatt certainly hopes so, given that this character was MIA for much of season 3. You saw her during the early going of the story, and then she rather unfortunately fell off the map for a while. The story of Poldark follows the work of Winston Graham, and with that the reality is there are sometimes characters who pop in and out of the story. It’s similar to life in that way — Ross Poldark is the central axis, and there are people who gravitate towards him and then fall away at various points of his life. It just happens.

In a post on Instagram, actress Heida Reed (who plays the part of Elizabeth) seemed to confirm, (provided that this is not an old picture being posted now) that Ruby Bentall will be returning as Verity at some point in the season. Given that production has only been running for a relatively short period of time, more than likely you will see Verity during the first few episodes of the season.

As for the reason for her return, it could just be simply an opportunity to spend more time with Ross. Or, she could be sharing some unexpected screen time with one of the other characters. The universe has expanded significantly since she was last prominently featured on the show — take, for example, the introduction of Morwenna and Sam/Drake Carne during season 3. That raises the odds of a wide array of different interactions — book readers may know more of what is coming, while TV-only fans should have an opportunity to get a few more surprises along the way.

Verity or no Verity, Poldark season 4 will premiere on the BBC at some point in 2018. For our American readers, season 3 is currently still airing on PBS and we will have more news to share on that subject later today.
