‘Shiptober: Will The Originals season 5 end with Klaroline together?

Mrs. Carter: Will The Originals season 5 feature the most epic Klaroline ending possible for some of their fans?

We probably don’t have to tell you if you’re reading this CarterMatt ‘Shiptober article the popularity of the Klaroline ‘ship. This is, by a pretty wide margin, one of the most popular and prominent ‘ships in the entire The Vampire Diaries/ Originals franchise. These two characters do clearly have some affection for each other — but the extent of that varies and there have certainly been times when Caroline wanted nothing more than to get away from Joseph Morgan’s character. Emotionally, they’ve probably had a deeper, more intensive journey than most prospective TV couples out there. Part of the fun irony here now is mostly just that all of this has happened without two actually getting to spend all that much screen time together save for that stretch where Morgan was a major part of The Vampire Diaries.

At this point, it’s confirmed that Candice King will appear on at least two episodes of The Originals as her character. Does that mean that Klaroline will become an item within that span of time? Not exactly. The only thing that is technically confirmed at the moment is that you are going to get a chance to see her find Klaus overseas as he, like so many other members of the Mikaelson family, are in exile. Thanks to what happened at the end of season 4 these characters are more isolated and separated from one another than they have ever been.

The case for bringing the two together is that in terms of the trajectory, they’ve advanced to the point where they could see each other as strong partners. Klaus has learned, at least occasionally, to simmer some of his anger and rage; meanwhile, Caroline has allowed herself to see more perspectives and understand more of where he comes from. There is passion, real passion, and there are few other relationships on this show that even come close to comparing to this.

If there are a few things keeping the two from being together at the end of the series, we’d say to consider the following. First and foremost, you’ve got the fact that King may not be appearing in the finale — that hasn’t been addressed yet. Beyond that, you could also argue that they can’t get past their history. They’ve been through so much — we’d like to see them get past it, but there are no guarantees with this show.
