Gotham season 4 episode 7 preview: Sofia, Penguin, and Gordon drama

Moving into Gotham season 4 episode 7 airing on Fox in seven days’ time, some things are going to feel familiar. For example, Professor Pyg will still be making his very-creepy presence known after his debut tonight. Meanwhile, Sofia will continue to walk the line with both Jim Gordon and Oswald Cobblepot. She is at the moment one of the series’ most intriguing characters in that there is some element of gray to her. Her intentions are different than the typical villain, but she has a willingness to work with the likes of the Penguin that is separate from what most heroes would do. Crystal Reed’s got herself an interesting, complicated role here, and seeing how this develops could be one of the most interesting things about the story that is coming the rest of the way.

With Professor Pyg (guest star Michael Cerveris) striking fear throughout Gotham, Gordon and Bullock head into the Narrows to look for clues. Bruce Wayne meets a former friend, Grace (guest star Samia Finnerty), who convinces him to come along for a night out with some old classmates. Meanwhile, Sofia’s relationships with Penguin and Gordon continue to evolve in the all-new “A Dark Knight: A Day in the Narrows” episode of GOTHAM airing Thursday, Nov. 2 (8:00-9:01 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

We haven’t touched on the story of Bruce Wayne and Grace here yet, but this should be intriguing more so as a story for Bruce than one of his vigilante alter ego. This is a chance for him to reconnect with some former friends from back when his life had some element of normalcy to it. These are people who remember him as the son of Thomas and Martha Wayne … but are they going to be able to connect with this new Bruce at all? In turn, can Bruce connect with them? This could be a powerful, important episode for the character as he comes to terms with the fact that he needs to continue to wear a public mask even if he’s donning one at night. He has to be what people expect of him; otherwise, it raises suspicion.
