Lethal Weapon season 2 episode 7 spoilers: Scottie Pippen guest stars!

Lethal Weapon season 2 promo

For those of you who are major NBA fans, what you’re going to see on Lethal Weapon season 2 episode 7 is an appearance from Scottie Pippen. Who doesn’t want that? As someone who grew up watching the man play, there’s still something cool that comes from seeing him anytime he turns up on a show.

As to what he’s going to be doing within the context of the Fox procedural show, that’s a very good question. What we can give you for now is the synopsis below, which turns out to be rather funny thanks to the Murtaugh of it all:

“Riggs and Murtaugh investigate the death of a surfer. Meanwhile, Murtaugh grows suspicious of Trish’s new friend, with whom she’s been working on a charity event – and then learns it’s NBA champion Scottie Pippen. Also, Riggs has violent nightmares that bring up scars from his childhood in the all-new “Birdwatching” episode of LETHAL WEAPON airing Tuesday, Nov. 14 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.”

We gotta imagine that if there’s one way to get egg on your face, it is to be suspicious of a guy who turns out to be one of the most-likable basketball players on the planet. We’re all for this storyline — while it may not have all that much to do with the case-of-the-week, it’s going to be fun just for the sake of it being a cool cameo.

Interestingly, seeing basketball players on crime shows is kind of a popular thing at the moment — earlier tonight, Isaiah Thomas of the Cleveland Cavaliers made his first appearance on Law & Order: SVU as himself. (In that case, Thomas considers the show to be one of his favorites and it was total dream fulfillment for him to be a part of it. We’re not sure this version of Lethal Weapon has been on long enough for Pippen to feel the same way about appearing here, but we do think that this should make for a rather fun episode nonetheless. There’s lots of interesting stuff that the show could explore in the amount of time that they have!)

There is one little thing that we should note about this episode before signing off, and it has to do with a scheduling caveat — while it’s likely that “Birdwatching” will air as planned on November 14, there’s a small chance that it will end up airing a week later if the World Series goes to six games. There’s also a chance that it could be pushed for two weeks if Fox decides that they would rather air the episode on November 28 than put it on two days before Thanksgiving.

What do you think about seeing Scottie Pippen on Lethal Weapon?
