Chicago Fire season 6 spoilers: There may be Casey – Dawson tension ahead

Could there be some Dawson – Casey trouble in paradise on Chicago Fire season 6? It appears as though the answer is “yes.” As for whether or not it could cause some serious trouble for the couple down the road, we have a harder time believing that. These two have gone through so much and they are now married; as a result of that, we have a tougher time believing that the two are going to have some serious trouble in paradise down the road. Maybe they’ll face bumps in the road that they can overcome, but we’re going to go ahead and start the revolt if something terrible actually happens that force the two apart.

So what could be the source of some of their new drama? It’s actually pretty understandable when you consider what’s happened with the two parties as of late: Casey is now in the position of Captain within the Firehouse, and technically that makes him a superior. During an upcoming episode you’re going to see Dawson get a little too attached to a troubled teen that she is trying to help, and there are going to be some things about this Casey doesn’t like. They will butt heads, and Monica Raymund describes this more by saying the following to TV Guide:

“We start to see a little tension between them because they’re still independent people with independent thoughts and points of view on how to tackle problems … I think we’re gonna see a little bit of friction in terms of how Dawson is becoming her own independent thinker as a first responder and Casey now as a leader of the house.”

What probably adds to the tension somewhat here is probably just the fact that so far, most of Dawson’s risky decisions out in the field have actually paid off. She’s been able to take some risks that have saved some lives and she’s probably more confident in her abilities than she’s been in a rather long stretch of time. The same has to go for Casey, since he wouldn’t have this promotion otherwise. When you combine some of the tension that we’re talking about here with big personalities (which you know these characters have), it certainly feels like we’re going to be in for quite a thrill when the show airs this story later this season — in true show fashion, there will be plenty of other conflicts along the way that we’ll chart here at CarterMatt, as well.
