Chicago Fire season 6 episode 5 brings big Taylor Kinney, Jesse Spencer story

Chicago Fire season 6 episode 5

If you’re looking for Jesse Spencer and Taylor Kinney to get some great material, look no further than Chicago Fire season 6 episode 4.

The timing here couldn’t be more perfect, given that in our review for Thursday’s episode we wondered if Casey’s promotion to Captain meant in turn that we were going to get a little bit more tension between him and Severide. After all Matt now outranks him, and if you go back to the earlier days of the series there was a ton of tension almost constantly between the two men. A lot of this likely stems from the fact that Kelly probably wonders within himself why he hasn’t gotten the same acclaim that Matt has, even though some of that is of his own doing. He’s a great firefighter but life has a tendency of getting in the way with him.

The Chicago Fire season 6 episode 5 synopsis below gives you a good sense of some of what’s coming both in terms of the Casey – Severide tension and more:

Casey (Jesse Spencer) and Severide (Taylor Kinney) find themselves at odds after Casey argues with him over the best way to save a teenager entangled in barbed wire. When Casey looks to Boden (Eamonn Walker) for help smoothing out the situation, he comes to the realization that he will have to fix it himself. Elsewhere, Otis (Yuri Sardarov) tries to convince Casey to participate in the beta test for an expensive piece of new firefighting equipment imported from Japan. Meanwhile, Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) and Hope (guest star Eloise Mumford) come to blows over a payroll issue and Brett (Kara Killmer) goes on a date with a doctor she meets during an ambo call. Monica Raymund, David Eigenberg, Joe Minoso and Christian Stolte also star.

Obviously, there is a lot going on here beyond just Spencer and Kinney’s characters, and the storyline for Hope could prove especially interesting for one good reason: An opportunity to learn a little bit more about what’s going on with her and Stella Kidd. If Hope is starting to funnel money out of the firehouse Stella is going to catch her on it. Maybe this is all a part of the massive scheme she’s set up to take money for more unsuspecting people, or maybe Hope was telling the truth about what she went through at her old job. One way or another, the truth has a way of getting out.
