Ratings: Madam Secretary, Wisdom of the Crowd, Ten Days in the Valley solid

Ten Days in the Valley

The latest ratings are in for October 15, and for the most part, there isn’t much in the way of negative stuff to report! When you think about the current state of primetime network television that is certainly a rarity.

Let’s start today over with CBS, given that this is the network who probably had the best news — thanks in part to NFL overruns. The third and probably best episode of Wisdom of the Crowd to date ended up generating in total a 1.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which is up by a nice margin over the second installment. This could be adjusted down as many football overruns are, but if this stays it will be a nice performance for a show that is still in the process of finding its overall audience and its voice at this point in the series’ run.

Meanwhile, NCIS: Los Angeles stayed about solid with a 1.1 rating, which isn’t much of an increase from the week before but still something that it can feel good about. Given some of the changes and new dynamics with this show we’re mostly happy that the numbers aren’t falling in any way. Madam Secretary was even with the 0.8 it posted for the premiere; if it maintains that audience it will improve CBS’ performance in this timeslot year to year; as a result of that, we feel like it’s all but guaranteed that we are going to get another season of this show down the road. The bar isn’t necessarily set all that high here and it’s something that the series should be able to match in some capacity.

As for some other news on the night…

How is Ten Days in the Valley doing now?

The Kyra Sedgwick series continues to be in an interesting position. Like American Crime before it this past spring the numbers here are terrible. Yet, they are also consistent. The 0.4 that it posted in its timeslot was about even with what it scored the week before. This is worth celebrating, mostly because of the fact that it didn’t decline; yet, we don’t exactly think that this is the sort of rating that is going to get the show renewed or keep it on the air. It’s more indicative of the sort of struggles that ABC has finding something in this timeslot at 10:00 p.m. Eastern that works. Sure, the Shark Tank lead-in is so different that it’s not doing the show any favors but you still want to see it perform better than this.
