Supergirl season 3 episode 2 sneak peek: Lena Luthor arrives at CatCo

Leading into Supergirl season 3 episode 2 airing on The CW Monday night, one of the things that you’re going to see is Lena Luthor’s rise in power. She started things off on the show by moving L-Corp to National City, and now, she’s also the head of CatCo Worldwide Media. You better just hope at this point that the character doesn’t end up being secretly evil, given the fact that she’s got more power and influence at this point than she ever had before.

For a little more information on that very subject, why not check out the sneak peek below via TVLine? Here, you can see a conversation between Lena and James Olsen at her new place of business. While Lena could’ve easily stayed at her own corporate building, she’s apparently decided to take a little more of a hands-on approach. For Katie McGrath’s character that of course also means that the writers don’t have to work anywhere near as hard in their efforts to better ensure that she is around some of the other characters. One of the reasons why she wasn’t a regular for last season was because it wasn’t always easy to include her in stories where she had another job and was in another building most of the time.

It’s clear almost from the very moment of her arrival that there will be some tension at CatCo between James and Lena, and it starts off with the simple surprise that Lena is there in the first place. This is not something that James was anticipating in advance. He was prepared to work still under the impression that he would be running the show and that Lena would be casually overseeing the entire operation. It’s a little bit different for him knowing that she will be around far more often than he’s really comfortable with. We reported recently that one of the more interesting things to come out of this story is going to be him struggling with who Lena is as a Luthor — it’s not so much anything that she’s done, but James has spent a great deal of time over the years with her brother Lex and as a result of that has some predisposed prejudices in his mind. It’s going to be hard for him to look past some of that and focus solely on the future with her. Maybe over time he will, but he’s going to be looking over his shoulder.
