Victoria season 2 episode 8 (finale) video: Victoria and Albert argue

Victoria season 2 episode 8

With Victoria season 2 episode 8 airing on ITV in a matter of hours, there is quite a bit to prepare for. At the center of it is Victoria and Albert’s tension starting to boil over.

While the two characters may love each other, at the same time they’re both very much strong-willed and have their own opinions regarding various matters. They’re stubborn, determined, and they often refuse to allow anything to stand in their way. We’ve seen many times over this season already that Albert is none too keen to listen to what Victoria has to say, even when it is better off that he does. Part of this comes via gender roles, and another part of it also just stems from who he is and his upbringing. He’s not all that used to having to take direct orders and with that, there are some significant challenges that come in this marriage. The finale could be the culmination of many of these said challenge — they may get through them only to arrive at more at a little bit more down the line.

The new sneak peek below for the finale (thanks to ITV) does offer you up more of a sense as to what is going to be coming up in the story for these two characters, with one of the largest issues facing the two being Robert Peel. The Prime Minister has grown close to Albert over time and he feels a sense of tremendous loyalty to him … so much so that he wants to lend his support during a parliamentary debate. This is where the status as the Monarch comes into play — Victoria refuses to accept this idea as acceptable, noting to Albert that because of their status it is better that the two parties remain impartial in most matters. He doesn’t want to hear that and acts similar to a little child being told no. He storms off, and unless she tries to interject it’s possible that he will completely ignore her opinion, run off, and take on the job anyway. Sometimes, this is the sort of person Albert is — he does what he wants precisely when he wants to do it.

After Albert departs, Victoria then debates as to precisely what she wants to do with them. She’s learned a lot during her time on the throne, with one of the biggest things being that as Queen, you do want to present somewhat of a united front to the public. If Peel loses his position and Albert still campaigns for him, you have a new Prime Minister who may not be altogether willing to work with the Queen.
