Chicago PD season 5 episode 5 spoilers: Another big Atwater story

Chicago PD season 5 episode 5

Clearly, both Chicago PD season 5 episode 4 (airing Wednesday) and also episode 5 are going to be big episodes for Kevin Atwater. We’ve already written about a case that is hitting close to home with him airing on Wednesday night, and moving into the new episode “Home” airing on October 25, you will see that trend continue. Are the stories of these two episodes linked in some way? It’s possible, just as it also is that these are both separate, strong stories that put this character through hell and back. We’re unfortunately going to get more reminders of how dangerous it is to live in Chicago, a place that is ripe with shootings and all sorts of violence. It could cause Kevin to make one of the hardest decisions that he’s had to make.

For a little more on this, take a look at the Chicago PD season 5 episode 5 synopsis below:

“When Intelligence busts a meth lab run by gang leader Marshall Carter (guest star Aaron Roman Weiner), they uncover a re-homing scam in which children adopted from foreign countries are abandoned, then sold online. Meanwhile, Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins) struggles with the difficult decision about whether to move his siblings Jordan (guest star Kylen Davis) and Vinessa (guest star Bobbi MacKenzie) to a safer environment outside of Chicago. Starring Jason Beghe, Jon Seda, Jesse Lee Soffer, Patrick John Flueger, Elias Koteas, Marina Squerciati, Amy Morton and Tracy Spiridakos. Guest starring Ethan Nguyen and Patrick Thompson.”

While the other main case for this episode sounds powerful in its own right, the Atwater portion of the episode may ultimately be the more memorable of the two plots. Why is that? It stems from getting to know these characters for the past five years and becoming attached to their stories. You come to care about them, and with that it’s especially heartbreaking when something goes awry and we see characters in positions we did not expect for them to be in before that. We’ve already seen this with both Antonio and Burgess this season already, and we imagine that more personal stories will be coming.
