Saturday Night Live: Expectations for Kumail Nanjiani, P!nk show
When it comes to the show itself tonight there is every reason in the world to think that this one is going to be great, starting with the host. Kumail is one of the best comedians working today — he’s funny, but he’s also smart and comes with a very specific point of view. He grew up in Pakistan before moving to America, so he does understand a variety of different perspectives and is creative in ways few other people are. He’s on the show mostly on the strength of his movie The Big Sick, which he also co-wrote. He’s featured in this promo alongside P!nk and Aidy Bryant — who, for the record, also has a part in The Big Sick. We figure that the two could have some time in various sketches together.
As for P!nk, it feels almost like a guarantee that she’s going to do a really good job tonight. She’s performed on SNL before and in general she is one of the best live performers out there. We feel constantly confident in her abilities to deliver great performances and with her sense of comic timing, we do think she could cameo in a sketch here or there.
So what about Donald Trump? Will Alec Baldwin turn up at some point during the episode? For the time being it does feel like it’s very much possible. For one, he didn’t appear on the show last week. This was also a busy week for Trump because of some of the comments that he made about NBC and its license — plus also his recent executive order on healthcare. This may be an especially good time for Trump given that after this show, we may not have a chance to see the impression for a little while. We haven’t heard of there being a new episode coming on NBC next week.
What are your hopes for the Kumail Nanjiani – P!nk episode?
