Prepare for Longmire season 6 by watching season 5 recap
In a new post on Twitter (see below) from show star Adam Bartley, you can get a link to what is a concise little recap of the fifth season. If you for whatever reason missed an episode or two, this could get you back up to speed. Meanwhile, even if you’re up to date this could be valuable in that it allows for an opportunity to reflect. It’s been over a year now since the premiere of season 5 so it’s pretty easy to forget some of the stuff that’s happened along the way.
Longmire season 5 ended in a way that represented a pretty firm sea change for many different characters. After all, Walt Longmire is now facing a future where he may not be the Sheriff anymore, Vic is expecting a child, Cady is becoming even more immersed into the tribal community, and Henry’s life is on the line. There were a wide array of different character cliffhangers that are going to need some resolution when season 6 picks back up, and all of them are exciting in their own way.
Season 6 will likely resolve most of these cliffhangers within the first few episodes, provided of course that it follows the structure established of some of the other seasons. From there, it may have the flexibility to start to look towards a few other stories and start to establish what it wants the endgame for each character to be. Given that season 6 is going to be presumably the final one for the series on Netflix, the show probably does need to figure out some ways in which to establish closure. While we and many other people do want to see some movies happen that are based on the show, we also have to be realistic about the odds of this happening — nothing is guaranteed that lightning will strike twice, even if we remain hopefully.
As of just a matter of days ago Longmire was still in post-production. Once Netflix gets a sense as to how that timeline is going to go we should also have a chance to get some additional news on the show’s future. We’re just hoping as of now that the episodes get out there for our viewing pleasure by the end of the year. It still would be perfect viewing over the Thanksgiving break, no?
