Longmire season 6 trailer, premiere date finally revealed
Today, Netflix confirmed that Friday, November 17 is going to be the premiere date for the final season, and the trailer below via TV Guide offers more of the first insight on what is coming up. We speculated for a while that the show could use the convenient TV plot device of a time jump to make the story leap forward several months; luckily, that does not seem to actually be the case. What we’re going to be seeing instead here is the show stay largely in the present to allow themselves to take on some of the larger loose ends that we’ve seen at the end of this past season, including the big one tied to Henry Standing Bear (Lou Diamond Phillips). The character was stranded out there by Malachi at the end of season 5, and now it is the goal of one Walt Longmire (Robert Taylor) to find him before it’s too late. Could he team up with Jacob Nighthorse (A Martinez) in order to make that happen? Anything is possible within this show.
There is one other interesting question worth wondering after viewing the Longmire season 6 trailer and it’s tied to the characters of Walt and Vic (Katee Sackhoff). Are we about to see the two of them get together? At the end of last season we learned that Vic is pregnant, but in the early going this time around she doesn’t seem to keen to tell him. She reminds him that no matter what happens with his wrongful-death lawsuit and the plot of land he owns, she’ll always have her in his corner — it’s a sweet sentiment, but could it turn into something more? We’ve always said at CarterMatt that we’re for a relationship between these two characters provided that it happens in a way that makes sense and is true to the story. Longmire is not a romance by nature, so any relationship has to be an extension of the established brand.
We love the show, and we certainly love the premiere date even though it’s later than expected. Longmire season 6 is now coming at a time where we can actually enjoy the show without being weighed down by too much other stuff that is out there. Not only that but with it airing around Thanksgiving we’re all going to have a chance to dive into it at the same time — provided that nobody out there is too much in the throws of a turkey coma.
