This Is Us season 2 episode 4 spoilers: Jack and Rebecca’s surprise guest

Are you ready for This Is Us season 2 episode 4 to air on NBC next week? It’s probably not right to ask “are you ready?” when it comes to these stories sometimes, mostly because almost all of them are going to tear you up in the most emotional fashion possible. This is a show that loves to test its characters by putting them through hell and back, and based on some of the early details for the upcoming “Still There” it absolutely feels like we’re going to see that happen all over again.

This Is Us season 2 episode 4 synopsis – “Randall and Beth adjust to a new family dynamic. Kate books her first big gig. Kevin suffers a setback on his movie. Jack and Rebecca are visited by an unwelcome guest.”

One of the best things about this storyline on paper is that it gives us a reason to have all the more hope for Kate and her career — which is certainly something that we crave. Unfortunately at the same time we’re worried that this dream fulfillment for Kate could end up becoming somewhat of a nightmare. We’ve seen time and time again on this show that things don’t quite go according to plan.

As for Randall and Beth, it’s easy to understand why they would need some time to adjust. The two of them made a huge commitment at the end of this past season and it’s certainly an admirable one. Yet, there are other complications that do come along with this decision that they are going to need to wrestle. One of the biggest ones is going to be trying to figure out a way to get the balance that any family needs — while also in the process seeing if there is a way to have the same feeling of normalcy that they once had in an adjusted state.

There’s going to be emotion coming up — there always is with this show. Let’s just hope that along the way, there are also opportunities to feel some hope.

As for the promo, you can see some significant family drama to go along with some other big reveals in regards to Kevin’s knee — he has to worry about that, and apparently Jack has to worry about Rebecca’s mother.
