Blindspot season 3 trailer: Jane, Weller’s reunion; Rich Dotcom returns
The first thing that has us happy here is that if you love the Jeller romantic relationship, there’s a lot to like here. Seriously. A lot. There are some fun moments for the two parties, but also a few others where there was some clear tension. After all, this is precisely what happens when you are a couple who has spent some substantial time apart and is dealing with the sort of life-and-death stress that they are. Jane went away, and emotionally Weller may still be recovering from that on some level. We just hope that the show really explores that rather than sweeping the time apart under the rug.
With that said, it’s not like showrunner Martin Gero or the writers are planning to spend a whole lot of time trying to focus on this at any one time — it’s probably going to be a part of the story for several weeks to come. There’s going to be so much going on that it’s almost impossible for the show to focus on the relationship part of this longer than just in some assorted scenes.
Remember the cliffhanger at the end of last season with the glowing tattoos? Well, that’s coming back, and with it comes a new collection of clues and cases for the FBI to take on. Part of the problem there will come in the form of getting the old crew back together — many of the characters have moved on to other jobs and are in different parts of the country. For example, Patterson is out in Silicon Valley working on an app! (Given the sort of money that’s out there she would really have to love working at the FBI in order to take her old job back.)
Another problem that the show is going to be dealing with now? Well it just so happens to be Roman! If you didn’t believe that he was going to be the central villains for the upcoming season of the show we do think that this new trailer is evidence of that. He’s going to be out for vengeance on Jane and will do what he can to make that happen — including some elaborate chase scenes in Venice! (Did we mention the start of the season has scenes filmed in Italy? It’s hard to really express just how cool that is. It’s very rare for a major network show.)
Blindspot season 3 is going to be premiering on NBC at the end of October. Odds are, there’ll be plenty of time to share more news before then. For now, just enjoy the trailer — and the return of Rich Dotcom!
