Shadowhunters season 3 spoilers: Anna Hopkins – Lilith casting confirmed

Anna Hopkins

Shadowhunters fans, the rumors are 100% true: Arrow actress Anna Hopkins is going to be playing Lilith on the third season of the show.

While at New York Comic-Con on Saturday Freeform confirmed that the actress, who plays Samantha Clayton on the CW show and whose other credits include Defiance and Lost Girl, is going to be playing the part. She originally hails from Quebec, which is why it does make some much sense that she is getting great work on a number of different shows filmed up in Canada.

Lilith was first teased at the end of season 2, and it certainly seems as though she will be a significant force be reckoned with. She’s dangerous, but in what way to the Shadowhunters remains to be seen. There are also questions regarding the aftermath of what happened with Jonathan and her at the end of the season — what could that turn into? Is there a way for Will Tudor to come back?

Expect to see Lilith for a significant part of season 3, though a precise episode count is not entirely clear as of this writing. Fans first started to speculate over Hopkins’ casting weeks ago, so it’s nice to get that locked in today before filming goes any deeper.

As for another notable casting…

Hamilton actor and theater great Javier Muñoz will be appearing in the third season of the show as a new adversary for Magnus (Harry Shum Jr.) in Lorenzo Rey. We won’t say too much more about him here, but we’re very much excited to see what this character brings to the show. Javier’s got magnetism for days and it should shine through here.

The third season of Shadowhunters is going to air on Freeform in the new year, and rest assured over the coming days we at CarterMatt are going to have some more insight when it comes to the characters, the story, and hopefully some other odds and ends. If you love Shadowhunters and the world that has been created for the show, there is clearly quite a bit to look forward to from here on out!
