The CW creates mock commercial for Arrow, The Flash’s Big Belly Burger

Slade Wilson's son

What do you do when you’re the marketing department at The CW and you don’t have a whole lot to promote in terms of the upcoming Arrow story? Apparently, you come up with a mock commercial for Big Belly Burger.

The video below is a whole lot of fun, since it splices together a mock burger commercial with quotes from some of the various characters talking about how much they love the burgers. We’ve seen Barry Allen down dozens of these at once, just like we’ve also seen Diggle talking about the secret ingredients that make the burgers so good: Salt and grease. Okay, so superheroes don’t always have the best diet, but it’s possible to eat some of this here and there when you’re burning as many calories as these people are!

This is a fun little way to tie in many of the shows together, and while we don’t think this new video really appeals to new viewers it’s a fun little treat for longtime fans of the franchise. We don’t imagine that Big Belly Burger is going to be going anywhere in the near future.

As a matter of fact, we wouldn’t be all that shocked if we saw someone attempt a pop-up Big Belly Burger at some point at a San Diego Comic-Con or some similar event. The CW could do something similar to when AMC put together a mock Los Pollos Hermanos in New York and other places in order to promote the upcoming season of Better Call Saul.

So why is Supergirl in the video thumbnail? Well, much of that is tied to the “supposed plan” to open up a new Big Belly Burger location in National City. Hey, given how many calories Kara burns they could have a valued customer if they were to ever open up shop there!

This and other promos are the perfect way for The CW to lay the foundation for what they are calling “Super Season.” The premiere of Supergirl season 3 is coming your way on Monday and it will be followed by The Flash / Legends of Tomorrow on Tuesday and then Arrow on Thursday. The CW is once more going all-in with these shows, but it does make some sense given that all four of them produce good ratings and also plenty of fun for them. One of their big tests is going to come when the shows premiere, given that we’re still very much interested in seeing precisely how they perform in the numbers. Will they be hurt by the lengthy hiatus?

Do you have a craving for Big Belly Burger after watching this?
