Maksim Chmerkovskiy apologizes for Dancing with the Stars absence

Dancing with the Stars absence

Maksim Chmerkovskiy seems ready to move on after his Dancing with the Stars absence led to all sorts of tabloid stories. The pro dancer was apparently a last-minute scrub from Monday’s show, and many of the reports out there suggest that it came as a result of a feud that has been simmering for some time between him and his partner Vanessa Lachey. While this isn’t the first time that we’ve heard reports floating around about a celebrity on the show not getting along with their professional partner, this is one of the first times that we’ve seen it become noteworthy to the point where it ends up in the tabloids — and it causes something significant to happen on the show itself.

Maks has been a part of the show now for many years, and with that he likely realizes that this is not a story that can be swept under the rug rather easily on Monday night’s episode. It’s probably going to be addressed, really regardless of whether or not he would like for it to. That’s probably why he is deciding to get out in front of this story and apologize for some of his actions/involvement in it before things start to get any worse than they are.

In a new series of posts on the subject via Twitter, here is what Maks had to say in full:

“As you are all aware, I had to leave the show last week to take care of some personal issues. I take full responsibility for my absence and want to apologize to my partner Vanessa. We are both looking forward to dancing for our fans next week!”

One of the things that Maks probably does lose a little sight of here and there is that Dancing with the Stars is a cheesy, fun reality competition show. We know winning and performing well matters to the dancers, but ultimately the viewers watching at home are for the most part watching to have some fun and get a nice escape from some of their ordinary problems. This is one of the most popular shows of its kind just for the fun factor; the risk Maks and Vanessa now run into is that they’re labeled as too “dramatic” for one reason or another and suffer some consequences as a result of that. We absolutely can envision without too much trouble the two getting sent home a little bit earlier than they should just because people feel uncomfortable watching them. They’re going to need to get really good scores over the next couple of episodes to offset that, and probably in the process do a whole to make people believe that they have a better relationship now.

Do you think viewers will get past Maksim’s Dancing with the Stars absence?
